Bed, 2002

"Bed" was a mobile functional sculpture designed for temporary installation at the Civic Square Building at Rutgers University.  The work addressed a specific need of students for a place for comfort and rest, while calling attention to the ways in which the building’s institutional environment did not meet those needs.  The work was in use for a three-month period in several locations throughout the building.  It was ultimately adopted by an undergraduate painting class who outfitted it with stuffed animals and wheeled it into their studio to use as a regular nap spot.
